Manual Osteopathic Therapy

Throughout my life, I have seen and interacted with so many people who have been disabled or even crippled from their daily jobs and activities to know that everyone needs a little bit of self-care. Treat your mind and body the way it deserves to be treated and follow me on a new health journey.

As a Manual Osteopathic Therapist, our philosophy states that “the human body has the capability to protect, repair and regenerate itself to preserve its function”. However, sometimes it might just need a little nudge in the right direction for it to heal more effectively and efficiently. Using the different systems of the body as a whole, we can formulate a personalised treatment plan specifically to help you achieve the goals you want in your health.

As a Registered Massage Therapist, I believe that every muscle in the body tells a story. It can hold tension and stress long after it’s gone. It can hold emotions and energy where it’s no longer needed. And by releasing the baggage or memories of trauma in the body, it would allow you to live life to the fullest.

My areas of focus include realigning the body structurally such as osteoarticulation, visceral manipulation, and soft tissue manipulation. Outside of my clinical practice, I like to live both actively and artistically. From teaching partner dancing to creating music in my home studio, I strive to keep my passions constantly growing, allowing me to enjoy every moment of my life and I hope I can do the same for you too.

As a Naturopathic Doctor, my practice philosophy begins with understanding the patient, their body, and exactly what it is they need to get better. This means looking beyond just the symptoms, which are only the tip of the iceberg, to the fundamental nature of the patient.

I have a diverse family practice and treat patients with a wide variety of health concerns. One of my roles within Vive is to provide specific treatments to our patients including prolotherapy, integrative cancer care, intravenous (IV) nutrient therapy, allergy treatment and a number of other specialized therapies that fall under the umbrella of Naturopathic Medicine.

Outside of the clinic, in my moments away from Naturopathic Medicine, I try to find as much time as I can to play soccer and tennis. I get into the mountains as often as I can. Camping, hiking, snowshoeing and skiing are some of my favourite stress relieving activities!

I chose naturopathic medicine because I want to help you help yourself. I am passionate about orthomolecular medicine, a discipline that involves optimizing and correcting nutrient deficiencies from a cellular and molecular level. My goal is to provide your body with the building blocks it requires to function at its highest potential, giving you the ability to pursue the activities and passions you love.

Taking charge of your health is congruent with taking charge of your life and living well. My goal as a Naturopathic Doctor is to create individualized health plans that educate, inspire and motivate people to feeling and living their very best.

What makes Naturopathic Medicine so interesting and rewarding is its ability to merge new scientific research with traditional health practices and western diagnostic techniques with eastern health philosophy. This enables me to treat the full spectrum of health concerns using a diverse range of therapies. My specialized areas of focus include Fertility (difficulty conceiving, poor sperm count/quality, IVF support), Women’s Health issues (irregular cycles, PCOS, thyroid concerns, menopause), Stress management, Digestion and Weight concerns.

Away from my clinical practice, you will always find me “living life to the fullest”—whether it’s playing soccer, tennis or hiking in the mountains. I look forward to working with you and helping you achieve your life potential.

I chose a career in Naturopathic Medicine because when I experienced a bout of debilitating illness, it was there to not only support and guide me back to health, but showed me that my well-being really was within my control. I hope to show all my patients that although their health concerns may at times seem overwhelming, committing to the Naturopathic approach gives you more say in your body and how you live your life.

I am especially passionate about promoting well-family care. My specialized areas of focus include pregnancy & postpartum, labour support, breastfeeding, women’s health, children’s health and stress management.

Outside of my practice, I enjoy playing my 1909 piano, learning about urban agriculture and connecting with Calgary’s local food scene.

As a naturopathic doctor, my role is to work in collaboration with my patient to help them determine what health goals are most important to them. We can work on these goals one at a time or all of them at once, but it is always a step-by-step process and always fully collaborative and also adaptive. The treatment plan is always focused on the individual and can evolve over time as goals, needs, and motivations change. Wherever possible, I believe it is critical to attempt to find the root cause of imbalance because if we work to build a stronger foundation and re-balance the system, then naturally, the rest of the system will become healthier. Symptoms are simply an externalized expression of what is happening deep inside the body which provide us with clues about what needs to change and heal.

My areas of focus include mental health, pediatric health, stress management, sleep disruption, immune imbalance, and hormonal imbalances (menstrual cycle concerns, menopause, fertility support, thyroid imbalance).

Outside of clinical practice, you can find me spending time with my family, traveling and exploring the local art and theatre scene.

Through my life, I’ve often felt unheard in my interactions with doctors. It seemed there was more interest in placing a band-aid over my symptoms than truly addressing my concerns. For a long time, I have struggled with eczema and I felt I had been left to deal with the mental and physical stresses it caused, all on my own. As I grew older, it took a lot of courage for me to keep looking for someone who could really help. When I finally found a doctor who would listen to me, I felt relieved. More importantly, I found that it was possible to have a healthcare practitioner who was willing to work toward understanding and addressing the underlying, root causes of everything I was experiencing.

As a Naturopathic Doctor now myself, I always strive to make my patients feel heard and cared for. This is even more the case when I work with expecting families and breastfeeding mothers. Having a newborn is very emotional and overwhelming. Although it is an absolutely beautiful time of life, people can struggle, and their vulnerability requires support from people who will listen to them and their concerns. This is what led me to pursue additional training and certification in becoming a doula and a lactation consultant.
